Tomatoes… Where?

Well, it has not been a good year for the garden.  Although we planted seeds early in the year indoors, nothing much really grew.  Yes, things boomed for about 3-4 weeks, then it just did not get warm, like it should have.  Right now, mid-September there is still lots of green tomatoes hanging on the vines.  Last year, we were picking 6-10 a day!  Not so this year.  I’m really bummed as I planted 7 varieties of tomatoes, 2 of cucumbers, squash, zucchini, carrots, corn and pumpkins.tomato The pumpkins are already orange and picked, the corn is done, the cukes, zucchini and squash are all dead.  Not sure what to think.  Bummer, as the kids loved to go pick and eat stuff straight out of the garden.  I liked it too.  No chemicals, no early picking, I know where they came from.  The only thing I had to wash off them is the dirt from the garden.

I am already looking forward to next year.  Hopefully we can have some sort of garden, even though I don’t know how.  The kids love to watch the stuff grow.  Even more, they love to make something with what they grew.  Seeing the look on their faces as they picked the corn, or grabbed the pumpkin that they grew was great.
